A narrated article: audio beside the text

An article can carry an audio file: the "Listen" button below the lead image plays it, and the visitor can listen to the text instead of reading it.

Where does the audio come from?

The article's "Narration (AI audio)" field picks an audio file from the Media Drive. On a live site the "AI narration" action makes it from the article's text; in this demo a short generated clip stands in its place, so the player can be tried.

The "Listen" button stands below the lead image, between Save and Share: one click starts it, another pauses it.

What to keep in mind

  • The audio file is in the Media Drive's "Audio" folder, so several articles can use it.

  • When the article's text changes, the narration has to be made again.

  • The audio does not replace the text: search engines and screen readers still read the article's body.

Where to try it

Start the narration with this page's "Listen" button. In the admin, open this article under Content › Articles and swap the file in the "Narration (AI audio)" field.

Bylines and author profiles

An article's byline links to the author's profile. A permission decides who has a public profile, and the profile's address comes from the Authors menu item.
