Anatomy of an article page: lead, "Why it matters", reading time

Every part of an article page is an editor field: title, subtitle, lead, lead image with its caption, the "Why it matters" box and the reading time.

The header

The top of the article holds the section label, then the subtitle (in this demo the grey "See …" line) and the title, then the lead. Below the lead come the byline with the publication date and, on the right, the reading time. The "Calculate" button works the reading time out from the text, but you can also type it in.

The lead image follows the header; you write its caption on the article, so the same picture can carry a different caption in another article. The lead also appears on the cards of the lists.

The "Why it matters" box

This field says in a sentence or two why the article is worth reading. On the article page it stands in a highlighted box below the save and share buttons; the list cards do not show it, they show the lead. Leave it empty and the box does not appear.

The bottom of the article

After the body come the author box and the tags; related articles and downloads go to the sidebar (see the Downloads article). The tags are links: this article's "Showcase" tag leads to a tag page that lists every showcase article of the demo. The very last band is the "Read more" module: it suggests the three newest articles, leaving out the one you are reading and the ones in its sidebar; its settings can narrow it to one section.

You find all this in the admin under Content › Articles, in the article's editor; the share buttons can be switched off per article.
